Literature Text
Shadows on the pavement, dancing around
Like flickering flames, but on the ground
They mimic their host without a sound
Complacent with their place in the background
Hiding from the light, are they afraid
Everywhere at night, but so small during the day
Sounds like someone else I know
Someone I know who has become
Nothing but a shadow
Hiding from the sun's glow
Filled with so much doubt
Of which nobody knows
Feeling so low
Just a shadow
New day's light, what does it bring
The birds outside, what do they sing
The falling leaves, from the trees
What the wind is whispering
Soft eyes avoid each passing gaze
Growing tired with the the passing days
Sounds like someone else I know
Someone I know who has become
Nothing but a shadow
Hiding from the sun's glow
Filled with so much doubt
Of which nobody knows
Feeling so low
Just a shadow
All the regrets
For what has not been done
Pointless hiding
or chasing the sun
Let live and forget
What has not been done
Less you hide away
eventually become
Nothing but a shadow
Hiding from the sun's glow
Filled with so much doubt
Of which nobody knows
Feeling so low
Just a shadow
Everyone is watching the paint on the wall
Carrying phones with no one to call
So timid and shaken we hide from it all
Afraid of our shadows and the leaves as the fall
But no longer confused, no longer misused
No longer afraid, nor hiding behind an excuse
Sounds like someone else I know
Someone I know who has become
No longer a shadow
Hiding from the sun's glow
No longer lost in doubt
Of which nobody knows
Not feeling so low
No longer a shadow
